What is it?
Baptism is the next step after you’ve decided to follow Jesus. Jesus both modeled and commanded baptism. It’s a symbol that tells the world that you’re now living for Him.
Baptism is not what saves you or makes you a Christian. However, it is an outer symbol of an internal reality. Baptism is sort of like a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, but is a symbol of your love and devotion to your spouse. Baptism symbolizes that you love Jesus and are committed to Him.
The Bible describes baptism as:
- a sign of identification with Jesus (Acts 8:36-38).
- symbolic of dying to your old life and rising again to new life in Christ (Romans 6:4-5).
- a step of obedience to Jesus’ commands (Matthew 28:19-20).
When can I get baptized?
Baptism happens at every Rock Bridge campus on the third Sunday (and preceding Thursday in Dalton) of each month.
