On January 12, 2002, God called Matt & Beth Evans to return to their hometown and start Rock Bridge Community Church. With a core team of around 25 adults, the church held its first worship services in September 2002 in the Wink Theatre with 241 people in attendance.
For those who started the church, one number was always in their minds: 50,000. There are 50,000 unchurched people in Whitfield County.
Over the next few months the church gradually began to grow as the unchurched began attending and people began relationships with Jesus.
This growth continued and accelerated as the church added staff, purchased buildings, added additional services, and eventually expanded to new campuses in new communities…all with the goal of reaching more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Today, Rock Bridge has multiple campuses in several communities in northwest Georgia and the Tennessee Valley, expanding that number well beyond the original 50,000 people. We’re just as committed to reaching people for the glory of God as we were when the church started. It’s the reason we exist today.
